Yesterday I talked about Selling Online Business. Today I will talk about how to find these making money on the web opportunities.
Making Money on the Web
The first thing you need to get your hands on is to recognize websites with value. There are lots of websites for sale with more value than their listing price. You don’t find these opportunities on the big sites like flippa.com but mostly on webmaster forums. Small and big ones! If you have $200 to invest this could be a great start for making money on the web.
Buy a website you think is valuable or could be improved in a short period of time. Always check their age, backlinks, rankings and activity before buying it. Lot of websites that are for sale don’t run ads on them, it is up to you to recognize value in future ads. For example if a site gets more than 50% of its traffic from search engines, it is probably making some stable money on adsense if you put ads on it! The site would increase in value and you could sell it again with profit.

Agree, but I prefer buying bigger or underdeveloped sites that have something unique and potential for bigger growth. What I mean is that it can be a lot of work to buy a website for $200 to resell for $250.
There are a lot of underestimated sites on smaller forums but it may take up to the whole day or more of work to mess with purchase, payment, transfer, set up just to do the same a few days later. What is your rule here? Do you ever buy and flip within a week or do you prefer to buy and hold for a some period of time while working on it and increasing the value?
Hi Nomar, long time no speak!
I agree with hackcorp, underdeveloped sites that have potential are the way to go. Niche sites that have various long tail variations and unique can be gold. quick flipping is too much like hardwork and can end up with egg on your face. I have moved into localised directories and sell “off line” much more potential at the moment
Sometimes I buy sites and sell them the day after! I agree that it is not all fixed in 1 hour, it takes some time to set up. I don’t like buying a site for $200 and sell for $250 either. Most of the times the ROI is higher than 100% though!
Keeping a site to improve the rankings and its value is something I do too.. It just depends on the site! Last year I bought a forum and kept it for over 4 months before I sold it again, now that I think about it… the ROI on that one was about 50% hehe, but was in the x.xxx
About the egg in the face; had it already a couple of times. Not all website deals turn out to be good ofcourse! But learning everytime
I prefer site flipping. Easy money.
The issue that arises with some of the smaller websites is the fact that the transaction may not go as smoothly as it would if you used a more established 3rd party such as Flippa.
