Serious Hosting Problems

There is nothing worse than hosting problems! Last week my hosting company decided to switch everything to new servers. I agreed to it and it sounded like a great deal. The new servers were better and faster than the old one. But when all the sites were transferred, the problems begun.

The first problem: I was not able to access over 50% of my websites, which really sucks because I couldn’t update them either. My hosting guy couldn’t solve the problem and after browsing google for a couple of hourse I was desperate to. I almost gave up when an old friend popped online and I explained the problems. He found some serious permission and DNS problems. Now some of the problems are gone and I can almost access every site again. He is still working on the other ones that show problems.

Currently I am using an external DNS service for some of the sites and it seems like this is working.

The traffic one one of my mobile theme sites went down with 40%, so more people couldn’t access the site. Very weird problems, but hopefully it will all be fixed soon.

Hosting down times are the worst for any webmaster…..if they are down for long…you can loose your google rankings too..which will mean more trouble.

Yes, hosting problems are not good. :) Reliable hosting is really important. I had unreliable hosting one time, and they were going down a few times a month. After my database got corrupted and it took me days to resolve the problem, I finally went for a dedicated one and doing backups more often. However, I still have a few other host accounts and do all my domains on name.com, so if something happens on my host, I just point them to another hosting account. :)

Hehe, smart thinking Rasim! I had a dedicated server before this one to… kind of enjoyed it, but the company was shut down.

I am on a VPS now..
