A single page on your website should not be optimized for more than 1 keyword! This keyword can also be a keyphrase, such as ‘buy cheap brown shoes’. This main keyword is formed by several other keywords. But it can also be one keyword, such as ’shoes’.
It is better if a page is highly relevant to 1 keyword than relevant to many keywords. If you go after 1 keyword per page it is more likely you will get a top listing in the search engines for that keyword. If you are chasing around 5 keywords per page to get top listings, your chances are low to succeed.
If you still want to rank for a lot of keywords, than create new pages and make a new page for every keyword you want to rank for! This way you will get good results if you optimize different pages of your site for different (but related) keywords.
Keywords are an extremely powerful thing. I actually recommend going for around 2 to 3 keyword phrases for a post. However, I also believe that using one of these keyphrases as the central keyphrase is also a useful idea. By using multiple keyphrases you’re opening your chances of getting a wider diversity of traffic from search engines such as Google.
If you’re going for a keyword phrase it’s also recommended that you try to get one with lower competition. This will not only make life easier for you when you’re trying to develop your website, in most cases the CPS rates for programs like AdSense will be higher.
Anyway, great Post
I always repeat the most important keywords of my posts. I doesn’t matter if it’s 5 or 10 keywords; I try to repeat them as much as I can without compromising the integrity of the post. Nice Post Chat.
I usually do 2-3 keywords per page.
Yeah, good points… Keywords are important.
P.S. nice ajax comments, like how you did it on this blog…
