Tips for Time Management

Time Managenemt! We all know what it means, but only a small % of us is really following a decent time management schedule. To be honest, I am not one of them. I am writing this article to learn more about this topic and see what I can do better! My good friend Anand recently posted an article about it, which made me think about it more seriously.

Anand is pointing out a couple of points:

  • Email
  • RSS and Blogs
  • Social Networks
  • Blogging
  • Getting things done
  • Office Space

The first three points are time consuming. The time is flying when you browse online and chat to some of your friends, that is why you should cut time on reading your email, reading rss feeds and blogs and checking out the hot topics at social network sites.

Email. When you start your working day online, the first thing you should check is your email. Answer the mails that are important and you are done with email for the day. Check your email once a day, or maybe twice (at the start and at the end of your working day).

RSS, Blogs and Social Networks. Make sure you don’t spend over 1 hour on these points!

Blogging. Blogging at your own blogs. This takes time but you create more value for your blogs. Make sure you take the time to write informative quality blog posts, so it is worth reading and worth your time! No one is waiting to read blurry blog posts and it will only cost you time and not make you any money/value.

Getting things done. A check list with things to do is not a strange thing to do. If you write things down with a time schedule you will more likely get the things done before that time and achieve more of your goals!

Office Space. A decent place to work is a must. A place to concentrate and focus on your business is very valuable. This will make you more productive!

I notice the most important thing is a good planning where you list your short term and long term goals! This is going to be my task for today. Put up serious short term and long term goals for some of my websites!

If you are serious about your business, act like it!

I’m going to have to disagree with you on points two and three. In my opinion I believe it brings tons of value to your content when you read other blogs, even better, commentate on those blogs and be a part of the community.

Now in no way am I suggesting that you shouldn’t update your blog. In fact, my personal recomendation is that you update at least once daily to keep your readers entertained. Managing your time between writing for yourself and writing on others blogs is key to throwing yourself ahead of other bloggers and your competition.
